FED:Swan tells Abbott to stop tobacco ads

Treasurer WAYNE SWAN says Opposition Leader TONY ABBOTT should tell the big cigarette
companies to drop their five million dollar anti-Labor advertising blitz.

Mr SWAN says Mr ABBOTT should make clear to what extent he .. or senior Liberal strategists
.. are involved in the campaign.

He says if Mr ABBOTT hasn't made any commitments .. then he should call on big tobacco
to cease the campaign.

The Alliance of Australian Retailers .. funded mainly by British American Tobacco and
Philip Morris .. wants to halt proposed laws for plain packaging of tobacco.
