NSW: Young man in coma and on ventilator after fall: Hospital
SYDNEY, Aug 31 AAP - A 19-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after falling
from the pedestrian bridge at Sydney's Darling Harbour.
A spokesman for St Vincent's Hospital said today the young man had been placed in an
induced coma and remained on a ventilator after last night's accident.
He suffered serious head wounds around 11pm (AEST) after falling from the bridge railing
he was sitting on.
"He is in critical condition and has been placed on a ventilator," the hospital spokesman
told AAP.
Police said the man was on the Cockle Bay side of the bridge when he lost his balance
and plunged more than 10m to the concrete.
Police do not believe foul play was involved but are looking into whether alcohol was a factor.
