Qld: Captain of oil spill ship to appear in court today
The captain of the ship that caused Queensland's biggest environmental disaster is
due to appear in court in Brisbane today.
The skipper of the Pacific Adventurer is facing a fine of up to 350-thousand dollars
if he's found responsible for the pollution.
Maritime Safety Queensland officers served the 47-year-old Philippines national with
a summons on Wednesday.
He's already surrendered his passport and has been confined to his vessel.
The Pacific Adventurer is still tied up at Brisbane's Hamilton wharf .. following the
huge oil spill which happened after the ship steamed into rough seas whipped up by Cyclone
Hamish on March 11.
